The HKS BOV knock offs sell 50 to one original HKS item here in Australia.

I'm not "Chinese" but I am ethnic Chinese...and I do take offence to that statement that Chinese EXPECT counterfeit products.

It just shows how ignorant you are. Fakes are also made in Eastern Europe, and 3 decades ago, they were made in Korea.

There's a market for counterfeit products, and some crook is filling the demand.

The stock market rip offs and pyramid schemes that have happened in the Western world...should I say that white people EXPECT that?

Don't be an ass and stop digging a deeper hole for yourself.

He who establishes his argument by noise and command shows that his reason is weak.

Seriously? That's the line of "argument" you're going with?

How true is this when the 'fakes' are masked in such a way as to make them indistinguishible to the genuine item....... :|

If the fakes are obviously marketed as being copies of the genuine item then the consumer can make an informed choice, how many of them would then buy such a product?

Just cos Australian are no.1 at it, doesn't make it culture.

People whom illegally download normally do it in the 100s or 1000s, the other 22 millions aussies dont to it.

If you can find me a "rollex" from china that is as good or of better quality from china, please let me know.

And that's the real issue.
I've seen this problem arise in aircraft and aero engines spares. The non-genuine parts are fed into the supply system and come in OEM packaging with all the correct identification numbers:!:
Some of these rogue parts were not discovered until investigation of early failures.
I believe they now have a coded system (with an attendant cost increase) to track parts back to the manufacturer to try to circumvent this problem.

It leaves us car spares consumers in a difficult position trying to figure out what is genuine and what is an inferior knockoff, especially when it comes to purchases through the internet.

Seems to me that Dupain has a appetite for risk, that exceeds most on this forum

Risk in using cheap spare parts
Risk in Driving long distances

That's Fair enough.....we are all free to make decisions we are comfortable with
but Please consider the potential consequences on others
if at some point the risk exceeds your expectation
You can't demand respect....you have to earn it

Dan is merely stating that China makes a lot of stuff and that is patently obvious. However the reason for that is cost factors i.e. low cost manufacturing i.e. heap labour and conditions, support by a communist Govt and also a lot of support from multi nationals who provide know how and systems and brands. It is also well accepted that their home grown cars are not up to the standard we have become used to. None of this legitimises shonks copying and using well known brands.

Ok Dupain. You show us Your abracadabra.

I've seen plenty of proof professionally that you get what you pay AND inspect for in china.

Can the make top quality stuff? Absolutely.

Can the make the cheapest nastiest stuff? Absolutely.

just because something is made in the same factory doesn't mean it's of the same quality.

The knock offs might be made using inferior materials. They might be the parts that didn't past qa inspection.

I'm no sure what your profession is but perhaps have a look in a bit more detail into materials science / engineering / manufacturing.

Anyway judging by the other thread your not really going to come at this from an open view point.

On the topic if illegal downloads.

I think we should award this years Sidchrome Award to Dupain.
In fact I recon he might beat lil_ mike for the Snap-On award too, would never have thought that possible.

well, I did say some wouldn't see an issue with using this chinese sh*t, and a better point of why you wouldn't use comes from this posters
arguments.
If you are stupid and arrogorant enought to risk other peoples lifes by using non tested backyard copies then go ahead, but as i said earlier not around me thanks.

I think it done what I wanted, so lets lock it.

This is the problem with Australians, they think they are above the law. In denial.
From culture, to above the law, to in denial. You you even know what your arguement is?

If you cannot answer questions, then don't. these tangents well being assuming, just don't seems to be getting the info from you mind to the keyboard.

Again, find me a "rollex" that is from china and is as good or of better quality than the original.
