rotary dead end
Try tracking your Turbo rotard a 1/2 dozen times and report on your success.
I made about 440 rwhp or 330 rwkw out of twin turbo rotard.
Was hateful to own at any power level they are just a Leper of an engine,
they sound like cats dying to me I cringe every time I hear any rotard in motion
which thankfully is not that often anymore.

+1
I had an NA6 for a week over Christmas and have dríven an NA8 on a few occasions as well as my SE - they all leave a smile on my face, something that my DD Mazda 3 will never come close to, it's just an A->B practical car, there's nothing emotional about driving it.
For a fun drive, I'd take a 20+ y.o. NA over my 2007 Mazda 3 any day.
Don't worry about dying, worry about not living!

Re: ND Thoughts
A 'sports' car can get away with a lot if it is pretty. (The NA was definitely so, NB also in its way) - otherwise it needs to be fast (WRX)
The ND ain't gonna be fast, so it better be pretty.

+2...but then the same would apply to an enthusiast driver in any car.

Re: ND Thoughts
I would have thought the NA NB and NC are all really degrees of change. My impression is from a few drives that the NB is somewhat more engaging and prettier. The NA only had pop ups because Mazda did not have another headlamp available and that did not come along until the NB P1. Through my eyes the NB P2 /3/4 is the prettiest and sleekest of all. JBT is essentially right that the MGs excluding the F were cars of a very different era and therein lies the charm for many. Not long for the ND to be revealed and then we will have a lots of topics and commentary.

While all MX5 owners cannot agree on the best. 2 of 3 can agree on the worst.
Tune back in a few hours to see the hornets nest I have stirred up.

Mr M, where do you get this stuff?
NA only had pop ups because they didn't have other headlamps avail...
I would like to reply point for point but simply don't have the time.

You are old enough to remember the 80s. Pop ups where not because nothing else was available. Pop ups was the bees knees of performance car lighting in the late 80s and early 90s.Mr Morlock wrote:The NA only had pop ups because Mazda did not have another headlamp available and that did not come along until the NB P1.

Re: ND Thoughts
I am surprised that nobody mentioned that the only reason for pop ups are US legislation regarding sealed beams.
I could live happily with an NA6 with
better seats
better lights
lots of bracing
NB2 brakes
wider tyres
and maybe a S/C or small turbo....
