When it comes to motoring fun, one of the most intriguing segments is the under $30,000 price bracket, where several enticing choices can be found in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Want a traditional rear-wheel drive coupe or convertible? There is iconic Mazda MX-5 and the Scion FR-S. Looking for a sport compact coupe? Honda will gladly sell you the freshly updated Civic Si. What about a hot hatch? Well, there is an all-new 2015 Volkswagen GTI and a pair of recently introduced Fords, the Focus ST and the Fiesta ST. Or maybe an all-wheel drive street legal rally sedan is more your flavor? Good news, 2015 sees the introduction of a brand-new Subaru WRX. Or how about something completely different, like the Nissan Juke NISMO RS?

The Fiesta ST got rave reviews from local magazines surely the current bargain of the year and under $30K. I think some of the numbers looked somewhat low. A mate recently bought a BRZ and paid over $40K .

I like the ST fiesta but 2 things.

It is so 'plastic' in quality compared to the NA/NB and have yet to see a turbo go 200,000km without problems.

US Fiesta=$22k vs US MX-5=$27k compare to OZ prices.

Had a look through carsales.com.au yesterday to find going prices of Mazda MPS'. Gobsmacked when I see a few of them around the 12 grand mark, though that then asks the question whats wrong with them if anything. Might even be still worth buying & then repairing issues depending on what they are.

Kinda tempted to sell of my Mazda Familia GTR & change over to a Mazda 6 MPS. Even though the 6 is a much bigger car, & not as nimble. But still awesome, like the 3 MPS is too (not AWD though).

A guy at work has a 6mps. Said the best he can get out of tires is 20k km( 9k km when bob jane did the alignment).
And onto his 5th engine mount (they crush one in particular) in 120k kms.

Mazda comment : that's all you will get out of tires. Avoid tire shops like bob jane the 6mps runs a weird alignment and they won't believe the specs in the computer.
Engine mounts - you get that
And.... There was a reason the only made one model. To much outcry about maintenance from USA.

some mps are 11 years old. running alot of kilometers.

they are one of the most crashed cars in oz. hence most insurnace comapnies only offer super high premimums and extra excesses.

mps 6 even worse. bad on fuel. bad on maintenence. bad on tyres. bad to fix panel damage. insurance issues same as mps 3.
