DUH!!!!
Not too long now ( well in the scheme of things)
So after too many crankshafts and a long conversation with Gary Stewart, I took the crank (1st one ) to the machine shop that did the 1600, and who GS use as well, journals machined and nitrated, then back to work to set everything up, measure etc etc. Stuff me if that idiot in the states was local he would be walking in a strange way, wrong bearings FFS, so got onto Bill@miataRoaster and 2 weeks later the correct parts are in my hand. Now I can finally dummy fit everything up and measure deck heights , clearances and file fit rings and make sure that everything I had machined fitted and was machined right. Measured deck height and found that the factory machined the deck height off compared to the crank center, so made measurements and machined block to suit.
Got the block back within 24 hours, (sooooooooooooooooooo different to the other shop) and cleaned and cleaned and cleaned and then cleaned some more, then made my mechanics check it and made them clean it, finally you couldn't get anything on white tee shirt cotton so I figured that was good enough to start assembly. I was only going to fit the crank and then call it a day but once I started I ended up assembling the whole bottom end (That was my Saturday morning stuffed). It was fitted to my engine stand so stuff it I picked it up (literally) and bought it home.
I then assembled everything else to the block ready to go in this weekend.

Unfortunately with this weird weather my hands don't want to work too well so stuff it I'll do all the other stuff I shoulda done before, and fit the short motor next weekend!!!
I've removed ALL the small hoses and pipework associated with them so now 1 less thing to worry about, as it was the pipe to the oil heater/cooler that blew costing me a motor, I got a reroute from Danny and am now making up the associated pipework and brackets for a cold side reroute. I had to drill out the spacer so I could fit the fan switch as I really don't know how to reprogram the ecu, and really, the switch is simple to modify. So with the heater/oil heater pipe removed a welsh plug was fitted, the std ecu coolant plug fitted to the head, coolant sensor fitted to the head and the spacer hole plugged, it all seems ready to be fitted. Just need to now bend up the 32mm pipe work and weld up to a long sturdy bracket on the manifold, then I need to weld in a fitting for the mechanical temp gauge and then paint or powdercoat it.

While I think of it, MX5 parts in the UK had the gear, key and bolt to me by Friday AM, not bad eh!!!! ( as I used my parts to fix up someone elses car

So what have I been doing while waiting for parts and other sh*t to happen, well I cleaned Scooter of course, might be too shiny for a race/track day car

Cylinder head will be finished this week and then I'll need to talk to Clive Cams as to what they want to do cam wise.
So what am I hoping for power wise, something that will do 60sec runs at LS and I'll be happy.
Hoping to maybe do a track tryout in April if all goes well.
