Re: NSW Supersprint Championship - round 3
Has anyone received paperwork yet?
I do not have garage allocation or even a confirmation besides Bobs email??
For the amount of $$ and entrants this seems pretty slack!!
Unless it is just me not getting emails?
EDITED !!
Here is the run sheet.

Re: NSW Supersprint Championship - round 3
Garage allocations were emailed yesterday, anyone who hasn't got an email from me let me know ASAP (preferably by email).
Organisers are also looking for flaggies/officials - anyone who can help please contact Dianne Mawer at the NSWRRC.

Do you just mean MX5 Club Garage allocations?
As neither me or the others i know not in the club garage allocation system have received anything.
Dianne quickly got back to me with news that they are having computer issues and will hopefully have all this info sent out today or tomorrow.

Computer issues!
Garage allocations and gridsheet were sent by email last night. About one day earlier (relatively) than they were for the last NSWRRC supersprint. An improvement.

Re: NSW Supersprint Championship - round 3
So some more SuperSprint noob questions...
I have never been to SMP North or GP circuit with the race car before. Which entrance do we use?
What will I need to present at the gate? I don't have any tickets... will by ID and/or log book be enough? What about for my listed pit crew (ie. family)?
What time should I arrive?
Are there any vehicle unloading protocols and/or guidance for parking the tow vehicle and trailer?
Thanks guys - sorry, just don't want to make a goose of myself tomorrow (too late, I know!).

Re: NSW Supersprint Championship - round 3
Chris,
Use main entrance near dragstrip; the same one you'd use for SMP South.
Tickets are not generally required, although ARDC do send some windscreen stickers out for their events. Just slow down as you go through the gate and the security dude will usually wave you through.
For some reason admin and scrutineering usually takes more time than it should at SMP, but you should be OK if you plan to get there between 7:00 and 7:30. You can always finish scrutineering after the driver's briefing if you need to.
Most people unload in the parking area in front of the garages. If there's a lot of cars you may be asked to move your trailer to the parking area on the other side of the tunnel near the South Circuit.
I hope that helps...

Re: NSW Supersprint Championship - round 3
Thanks to everyone for helping me find my way around yesterday. Thank heavens, the blue rocket made it through the day in one piece and considering I'd never seen the track (in any configuration!) and was on shagged rubber, I'm pretty happy with the result. We have some work to do to get the car ready for WP in 2 weeks but hope to see at least some of you there for the next round of the Mx5 Cup
I also want to thank Daniel Deckers for coming in on Saturday to tune my car so I could run it yesterday... Thanks!

Re: NSW Supersprint Championship - round 3
Great result for the Club yesterday, well done to everyone who turned up and contributed points to the Club score. Sadly my 4B record was trashed, and not by me, or another Club member ... damn those Hondas
Actually, the first four place-getters all broke that record, and I was the fourth of them
Bit of work for some of us, I have a new wing to build after the endplate came off, destroying the wing in the process. Time to re-think the mounts perhaps
Now for Round 4 ...

Re: NSW Supersprint Championship - round 3
Can i ask a question to those who have run previous years.it
I am trying to work out the points system.
The regs say-
9. Type Championship
a) Type Championship points means the aggregate of Type points
scored during the Championship LESS the least amount of Type
points scored at a single round.
does anyone know if you do not compete at an event does this count or do they minus your worst actual points from an event?
Just realised people could potentially beat others even if they have not attended all events which kind of sucks.
If that is the case that is..

If you do not attend a round it counts as the worst round for type championship points. So yes missing a round could result in someones final point score being higher than someone that had been to all the rounds.

Thanks. I thought that might be the case.
Seems a pretty stupid rule to have in place.
But i guess that depends on how your doing

Re: NSW Supersprint Championship - round 3
It's known as the 'drop your worst round' system, and it allows you to have one bad day, or miss one round, and not be knocked out of contention. If you look at the results, titles can be decided by one point, and with a 25/24/23/22... scoring system, one bad/missed day would otherwise kill your chances. This way you get one 'get out of jail free' card to play as/when you need/want.
I understand why you may disagree with it, but I am not sure why you think that it is stupid ... this is amateur club-level motor sport, and people do have lives outside it.
I haven't heard anyone else have a problem with this system, but maybe there are others. Concerns/opinions can be addressed to the NSW Supersprint Panel if you/they feel strongly about it.

I have thought a bit about this, and I feel that the system as it stands rewards attendance too much, without enough emphasis on performance. For example, if I am in a class of 2 cars, I win every round I enter by seconds, but miss two rounds, I lose the championship to the other car that only missed one round, no matter how slow that car is. And this is my current situation, as I may not be able to attend all rounds this year.
I am thinking of proposing, to the panel, a different system. There are an infinite number of systems, but I am thinking that a small modification to the current system might be worth pursuing:
Assign Class points as a function of a car's place in the Type. E.g, If I win an event in 2A but finish 8th in Type 2 (behind 2B, 2C, 2D cars), then I get 18 points for the Class and Type. If the car that finishes second in 2A comes 12th in Type 2, say, they get 14 points for the Class and Type.
Advantage 1: This simplifies the scoring for Bob;
Advantage 2: Potentially rewards a good performance for a car significantly ahead of the following finisher in their class;
Advantage 3: At the end of the year when only a couple of points may separate competitors in the championship, for a class, a slower competitor on the day, with slightly more total points may have an incentive to go just a little bit faster to gain a place in their Type, even if they can't go fast enough to gain a place in their class, to still possibly win the championship. Or conversely, a fast competitor with slightly fewer total points in the championship may still have to beat the car(s) ahead of them in their Type to win the championship, even if they are easily leading their class on the day. This actually increases competition from merely Class to Class and Type, but mostly for cars in the lower capacity classes. As a 1.6 liter car, I am never going to win my Type, but I would want to beat as many of them as I can to maximise my lead in my Class.
Comprendo?

This actually happened to me in 2013 in the Type 1 Championship. I competed in 8 rounds in my NA6 and earned 67 points. My nearest rival (in a Toyota 86) did 7 rounds and scored 65 points. However, there were 8 rounds in total and I dropped my worst round which reduced my tally to 60 points ... and I finished second.
Then in 2014, Stewart Temesvary and I both did 6 of the 7 rounds, and he beat me by 145 points to 143. The critical round was at Wakefield Park when he pipped me by 0.2s. If I had beaten him at that round (which was looking likely until the final hour), we would have ended even on points and it would have gone to a countback, which he would have won 3-2.
This year, it looks like I haven't a hope in hell as I'm behind a Lotus Exige, a 3 MPS, and an Astra OPC. I'm happy to compete against the latter two but the Exige is another story. It was allowed into Type 1 as it complies with the $100k limit in the rules - the list price in 2005 was $99,990+ORC. Yep, that seems perfectly fair.
