Where to buy Japanese wheels

Postby wedge_A » Mon Sep 28, 2015 8:21 pm

Hi all,

Here's the deal. I fairly recently bought an NB8B, and am absolutely loving it. It's simply a pleasure to drive. My only issue with it is that the previous owner put some 17" super heavy Bob Jane wheels on it and I would really like to get rid of them. I'm after some nice Japanese wheels to replace them because:

a) The car is Japanese
b) They are usually light
c) They will look nice and not gigantic and chrome

I'm thinking Buddy Club, Enkei, Work, etc. I know that Mx5 Mania sell Buddy Club P1s in a 15", but that's all the Japanese wheels I can find in Australia! So, does anyone know where to buy Japanese wheels in Australia? I seem to be having great difficulty in locating any!

Thanks all

I've purchased from these guys before http://www.autotechnik.com.au/index.php

They sell some of the rarer brands like Rays (Volk/Gram Lights), Weds, AME etc.. As well as Enkei. Doesn't look like they have many 4 stud fitments on the site apart from Enkei but if you look on the companies websites directly and find something they can order it in for you (took about 8 weeks for my set of Weds which were a special order).

Also you can get the Advan Wheels, they have some 4 stud fitments in some wheels like the RZ and I think you can order them from places like Ozzy Tyres http://www.yokohama.com.au/ADVAN-Wheels.aspx

Rupewrecht is awesome, and has a shed full of awesomeness you should ask him about.

If brand new then you're best to contact the manufacturers direct, Work wheels have an Australian agent I believe.

Ones like Rays/SSR are I think often sold by Nengun or something.

For secondhand you're best to speak to Rupewrecht, he imports stuff like that from Japanese auctions.

He's a really good bloke, i've bought a bit off him over the years and never had a problem.

garage88 at eastern creek highly recommended for their pricing, able to get anything in from japan plus they have a huge display and every catalogue you could want to flip through for jap wheels.
autotechnik also have a good name.
Check facebook sale groups you never know what pops up sometimes, or try your hand at yahoo japan auctions and use a middle man to get them in hassle-free

Yes, Rupewrecht is great to deal with. His garage is full of drool-worthy Jap wheels (not sure what would fit the MX).

I can vouch for ruperwrecht as well. Bought many things over the years from him and always easy to deal with.

If you want to buy Work wheels new, I recommend looking at JDMConcept.com.au. They are the Work wheels distributor in Australia and I have dealt with them first hand buying wheels.

Otherwise jump on importmonster and have a look through yahoo auctions using their user friendly guide.

Wow, thank you to everyone for the extensive feedback! I'll definitely be looking into a few of these options, and might drop ruperwrecht a line.

Cheers people.
