How many Kms has everyone done?
Hey guys, just wondering how many kms you've all done, I'm at 306,000 on the original engine and I'm just wondering if anyone knows how long these engines usually go with regular servicing..
Thanks everyone:-)

With regular servicing, and obviously replacement of the ancilliaries when needed, they can last for a long time.
my GF's NA6 is in the garage with over 400,000km on the clock, on the original engine, which hasnt been opened other than the rocker cover.
Simply serviced every 5 to 10,000km with regular oils (no expensive full synthetic stuff)
Not sure how far above 400,000km it is, the odometer broke a while back, engine still going (well was before it was taken out to give the car a restoration, engine will be going back in though without a rebuild)

Re: How many Kms has everyone done?
I swapped out my original motor at 306k. It was down on compression across the board (around the 160's) and had developed an oil out leak at the LHR of the head gasket. It had had a very poorly maintained life before I came along.
Dropped in a 180k with great compression (mid 180's) and it was like a different car.
Mazda built a great motor, they just couldn't guarantee great owners...

Re: How many Kms has everyone done?
a customer who recently bought an ND from me had an NB8C she commuted with and had close to 470km. Speedo sadly died and had to be replaced so it couldn't wear those km's with pride. Mate of mine owns it now and is going like a trooper towards 500

Between March 2009 and now is about 364 weeks. So that's 40km a week.
...I do more than that every morning on the way to work.

Re: How many Kms has everyone done?
Rascal's usage pattern would be similar to mine. Mine's done about 210,000kms all up but I've only done 60,000 in the past 10 years. However that includes about 4,000 competition laps. I'd say Rascal has probably done as many laps in that 14,000 or maybe even more than me. Original motor. It's their toughness under sustained competition stress that still amazes me.keito wrote:rascal wrote:keito wrote:16,000km's since I bought it in September, ~4,500km of which was done in a three week period over Christmas.

174xxx I think.
Bought it at 171xxx 8 or 9 months ago now.
Not nearly enough driving.
I'd be interested to read Cus' reply to this thread.

Yeah, so do I . 200km round trip to work and back every day in the DD. I average about 50-60,000km a year..
MX5 comes out to play about once a month and does somewhere between 120-190km all on the track..
It gets trailered to almost all events (except for recent natmeet cos of stupid Spirit of Tasmania pricing for trailers)
The tow car has done probably 25,000 kms of towing the mx5 over those 7 years.
