About 7000km done in last three weeks for Natmeet Tassie trip
Did 1200km today, about 450km to go to get home tomorrow and will tick over 170,000km
Most of which run upto 12psi

(And due for a big wash!)

I'm rapidly approaching 350k in my LPG-converted NA6, and it's still going strong. I had it in for it's annual service the other week, and I asked the mechanic if I needed to budget in a engine re-con. He advised me that my engine is in better condition than some 5-year old Falcons he works on!

Got lil red at 241,xxx about 18 months ago.

Just ticked over 293,xxx on the freeway sometime today - the least exciting of kilometers to travel

Engine was swapped to a long-nose by the previous owner at some distance - I don't remember now, probably about 170,xxx - I think the new one has a total of 120,xxx on it now.

you will find that many owners who only drive MX-5s as a second car are not doing much more than 6000 klm per year. A neighbour has a 91 with 200,000 on it and another one I know an 89 is still under !00,000 klm. If I had to drive long K's in an MX5 then I would opt for another car - far too tiring for me. People say you can do 400,000 on an MX engine but many other cars will do the same. I was only recently chatting with a guy with an old Cruiser and it already had 600,000 and he was quite sure it would do close on 1 million!! That was a slow old diesel. Mind you that would be hard work behind the wheel for many. I would have thought if someone if looking to do big K's- the average is < 15,000 PA then you buy later model cars which have a longer life left in them.

Our MX-5 bought new almost exactly 8 years ago now has 109,000km = 13,600km per year average but has included long trips to SA, ACT, VIC and TAS for NatMeets. Ran up 7000km this February for Tassie NatMeet

White 1990 September build - January 1991 compliance - 1st sold October 1991 NA6.

I purchased October 1993 with exactly 15000 on the Odometer.

Currently Odometer is showing 199154

2006 NC 175,000KM on it right now, but should hit 200,000 late this year.

I've also had NA and NB with similar amount of KM on them and their engines have all still been good.

You are generally looking at other problems, like replacing shocks, clutch, brake rotors, belts, and the odd annoying rattle.

Still on original turbo, still goes remarkably good besides the usual se hiccups.

1990 NA, owned since new, RIP'd in May 2015 @ 287,351km.
1989 NA, owned since December 2015, running beautifully at 226,068km, of which I have done 2,631km.

NB8A bought in May 2012 with 165 xxx ks. Now in 2016, just clicked over 221 xxx k.

97 NA8 (bought in 2013 with 74 000k's ) now at 98 000k's
Daily driver 96 NA8 bought 6 Months ago at 128 000k's now 138 000k's.

Old daily was an na6 which i put 30 000k's on in under a year.
Can say with good maintenance none of my mx5's have ever left me stranded or towed home.

2002 NB bought it 5 years ago with 41400 km on it. It's got 52460 on it now, a massive 2200 km per year.

1994 NA8 208,656 km, engine rebuilt at 185,000, the story is it lost compression for some reason, previous owner had engine rebuilt and rotrex super charger installed
