Visually, and even in stock form, my view is the 124 works better than the ND.

 The MX5 still rules, but the ND may not achieve the greatness of its forbears. If Tolkien was on the forum he might say he likes the 124 more than the ND, but he might also unequivocally say that the NA is the... One Roadster to bring them all, and in top-down driving bind them.

Can I say that? :D

"Fiata" - that name will definitely stick.

Still hate those two redundant humps on the bonnet and the multi-colour scheme looks like something a 17 year old kid would do to "hot up" his Hyundai Excel (ie cheap cosmetic mods to make it look "sportier").

I'll never buy an ND but one of these is definitely on the cards.
Just need a reliable upturn in the global economy.

I like the lower bumper treatment of this. It's sporty without looking too racy [better than the plain Jane ND IMO]. The wheel tyre combo seems to fill the guards better too. But if I get one, I'd still get the MX-5. Nothing but the original. Although I have to admit, this Abarth 124 Spider is turning out not too shabby looking. And I love this black & white combo.

Gotta say I think the Fiat kills the Mazda for looks.

Hanging out for a Mustang convertible.

Working in Vietnam, reckon once this contract is over, depreciation will see V8 ragtops at reasonable prices.

Prices for 124 released in the USA... cheaper than the MX5!

Miata Sport - $25,715
Miata Club - $29,400
Miata GT - $30,865

124 Classica - $25,990
124 Lusso - $28,490
124 Abarth - $29,190

The key here are the Lusso and Abarth versions. The Abarth is more like a Miata Club and the Lusso is more like a Miata GT in purpose. Both of those models undercut the comparable Mazda, especially the Lusso vs. Miata Grand Touring.
