Re: Mazda MX-5 drag race - 1.5 vs 2.0
1 second always matters which is why manufacturers always try and optimise performance as part of the overall package. I don't know many people who think it would be irrelevant if their car was 1 second slower. Acceleration will affect the way a car drives in almost all situations. Less effort for the same performance on the road.

I don't know anyone who thinks 1 second DOES matter. It was never an issue to me, even when I was a young petrol head.
I would say that 1 second does not affect the way a car drives in almost all situations.
This argument is always about bragging rights, not about anything that matters on the street, unless you are involved in illegal street racing.

With the greatest respect Rocky you do know of a lot of people who have expressed the opposite opinion to you on this forum.I cannot believe that as a measure the 1 second difference would not translate into signifigant differences in overall performance and that some people would consider it worthwhile .You don't, others don't ,others do, I do but we have established that so perhaps this has run it's course. we are all just repeating ourselves.
