The 'cheap' NC is a reality, the problem is that you put <40km and auto into the criteria..

Carsales ads are a bit optimistic, especially since owners will still be in denial of their value after the arrival of the ND.

I'm looking for a manual, and there are a few...

There's a silver one at a dealer in Alexandria. I've dríven it. Interior is in good nick, engine bay looks near new, but it's got a load of stone chips and other paint blemishes.

There's a 'Sport' in Qld with low km. Recaro seats are attractive - BBS wheels less so (I like the standard black wheels). I'm waiting for close-up photos of the wheels (look like they have been kerbed). And the reverse sensors on the rear bar are slightly tragic. I have plenty of FF points, so a trip up to inspect is feasible (and to drive back if purchased).

There's a low km car in Glenhaven, but the starting price is high. Looks like it's been listed for more than six months, so that rings a few alarm bells - but it may just be that the owner has so-far-unrealised price expectations.

Overall, I'd say that I can get a very good unit in my price range... but some patience may be required. That's always the hard bit, isn't it?!

Haha yeh patience is definitely a hard thing to maintain!

I spent about a year looking for mine and was tempted a few times to compromise on price/km's but ended up finding a good deal and was glad I waited.

I've read through your build thread from top to bottom. Fascinating. Sure, if you are heading for north side of Sydney some time (home for me is Eastwood/Epping area), let me know and (if convenient for both of us), I'd love to take a look at (and listen to) your baby.

So I have made an offer on an NC3 in Brisbane, and am flying up tomorrow to close the deal. Inspection says mechanically sound but needs a good polish. Driving back down to Sydney, all being well, tomorrow and Saturday. I'm joining the club!

Richard,
Well done on finding a possible. You haven't mentioned the colour but lighter colours do tend to show differently over the varied mediums that make up our little cars, alloy boot and bonnet, polycarbonate PRHT as well as various plastics (bumpers and body trim), look at it in different light and locations.
Good Luck.
Greg.
When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

Thanks Greg. I think it's called 'Aluminium' - silverish. I can see from pix that the front bumper looks slightly different, but it's checked out as original. Probably one of many quirks that I have to get used to as I indulge my mid life crisis.
