Hi all - buying my first MX5

Postby cruro02 » Fri Jun 03, 2016 7:34 pm

Hi all - buying my first MX5 - a black 2009 hard top with ~120K on the clock. Anything I should be looking out for?

Cheap deals on cleaning products (black cars require more cleaning than any other colour).

Seriously though, use the site's Search facility, this question has been asked many times before and there are a plethora of responses.

Never put the top up unless the storm has a name.

Welcome to the fraternity :)

... watch out for four wheel drive wagons as unfortunately we tend to be invisible to them.

Enjoy your NC

Nice. Just picked up mine last week 2007 hardtop with 100k on it.

Pretty nice ride. Considering doing mods but at the same time 15k more could get a new ND lol

Nice, can you post a link or price on how much you paid for the facia/steering wheel control kit.

Planning on adding a gps/bt unit, most likely a pioneer aswell.

Drive with the lights on all the time. Black MX5s are invisible.

If you're buying from a dealer, (no matter if the sales guy tells you it has 2 sets of keys) make sure you write on the contract that the car must come with 2 sets of keys.

Been meaning to return to that dealership with a bag of prawns.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Firstly, welcome to the obsession.

...there is a sticky, directly ABOVE this post that says "What to look for buying an MX-5 - Which should I buy? ". This forum is by far the most welcoming automotive forum i've been in, at the same time it's a bit disappointing when a new member gives zero effort in searching what is arguably the most common question seen here. I could be wrong and maybe you've already done this, it didn't like the case in the first post.
