Distant Cousins...

Postby BlackLeaf » Thu May 26, 2016 8:02 pm

...separated by 25 years and several shades of red, you can still see the family resemblance. Took these snaps when I was at the shops this morning. Lingered a bit to see if I would bump into him / her but it wasn't to be.

Quite a close match, down to the windshield surround and the mirrors!

They got the sizing right on the ND when you compare to the original. But the NA6 is still bigger than a 240Z.

I still prefer the timelessness of the classic 60's inspired shape of the NA, but I am also a sucker for most 60's sports cars as well, when the design philosophy seemed to be "if it looks right, it is right" the only two they got wrong was the E type 2+2 FHC and the 260Z 2+2

I toyed with getting an ND when I was six-months into what was, at that time, a fruitless search for another mariner blue NA. Went and sat in one in the show room floor and it felt claustrophobic. I never feel like in an NA.

Pretty sure the Z's a bit longer and a bit heavier.

Nope, the zed fit in the spot I used for the 5 in the garage easier for length and width.

Weight wise the 240's were on par with the 5's. My race Zed weighed 960kg still with all steel panels bar the bonnet with a cage and perspex windows. The steel bonnet of a Zed was not much, around 15kg. The heaviest thing in a zed was the L series engine.

Could have got about 30kg more out of it if I tried real hard.
