Alcohol doesn't play nicely with some materials, like some rubbers and metals.
Injectors not rated for alco use an have issues with seals degrading (dry out and split etc) when used with alco.
Same as using regular old rubber hose with fuel, will work for a while but eventually will just go crap and melt/split (of course, fuel rates hosing won't do this)

Right I've checked out the whole kit & kabudle from flying Miata. But that's not happening.
My injectors have never been cleaned. I think they've been out once. I think we may have changed the seals. I don't recall.
Getting the injectors cleaned is like $160. But I can pick up the NB8A new for like $90.... But they are not rated for alcohol.
But are supposed to have a much better spray to help Atomazation . Ohh well whatever. I guess as long as the seals are the seals are the right material?
Anyway that far away at this stage.

If you decide to go with NB8A red injectors, NB8B light purple injectors would be a better choice.

There's also a MSPnP3 now (PNP-Pro I think it's called). Definitely one of the "PNP" options unless you're slightly mad, in which case go for the MS3Pro Module. I went with a MS3 purely because the MS3 has CanBUS built in (I don't need it, but I do want it for one day in the future) but both ECUs will be fine, all depends on how much extra fluff you need, the MS2 has more than enough fluff to run an MX5, and they seem to be getting cheaper now there's a "better" option.
Re: injectors: If you're getting new ones, get actual new technology ones. datfreak's build thread has links to ones that are cheap, good and wonderful ev14 ones, probably overkill for the car as it sits now, but will also probably be all the injector you'll ever need right up to moderate boost on e85, and better than the old tech from a decade or more ago.

My biggest regret about my car is using the RX8 injectors. Yes they're very cheap, but they aren't at all whiz bang enough to make tuning them easy.

Why do you say that? Aren't the rx8 injectors ev-14 as well? What did you find them deficient?

Only with idle tuning and upgrade path. Dann was saying that the precision at low pulsewidths afforded by something like ID1000's makes idle control smooth as silk.
The yellow RX-8's do the job no worries, but there is room for improvement and in particular Stan was saying that he was considering E85.

Because my injectors are originals. 27 year olds with 310k km and they've never been touched. A new set would pehaps be quite good. Although I'm getting exited about lots of things. The budget just isn't there for all that.
Yes I would like to go down e85 way. Not because of the extra 5% extra but then everything helps. But I want to feel fuzzy on the inside. Just like I do when I hear the idle on the cams......OMG imagine the compounding fuzziness .....a grin wider than Patchy is long.

So I got bored this morning.
Just about pulled the trigger on the NB8B brakes for sale atm. But I figured. I've already got NB8A brakes. All I really need to do is get better pads for them. The current ones are crap. Even in the road. So I cleaned the up
Fuzziness ensued.
Then I looked at my engine bay . It is putrid. Seriously.

I cleaned up the easy side

Then the car got a wash.
Extra 20 hp at the front.
My back is killing me. I need a manna nap

While I'm saving up for the Megasquirt 2 PnP it's time to get back to the paint job.
The boot lit was done about 6 months ago but it was pretty crap it. You can't really see it but it was pretty crappy with the clear coat.

I didn't take any pics of the process .....duh....
Basically sanded it back with 600 grid. After each coat a light sand with 800 but the 4rh coat with 1200 . Also keeping check where indents were to keep it nice & flat.
5 coats in total. 3 rattle cans. No clear coat.
This morning I got at it with 2000 grid got rid of as many overspray bits & uneven surface & then gave it a cut & polish.
I recon the boot lid is the best success I've had


Next is the front bumper....
It's got it's own issues where the pant keeps peeling off. Even though I'm using plastic adhesive primer. I think I just have to give it some extra coats.
