'89 NA Rear brake calipers

Postby Sidsnot » Thu Apr 06, 2017 7:21 pm

Greetings, back brake problems, hand brake adjust in caliper's about every 4-6 weeks.
I see they are available new, on line from the US & UK.
Has anyone brought these from either of these places, onlinecarparts,(UK) Mossmotors (US)

Or....I was also thinking of buying 2nd hand caliper from wrecker & recon myself..
But new could be cheaper ??
Thanks in advance.

Also looked at this recently - at first MX5Parts UK looked like the WTG, but as soon as you added shipping it wasn't. Think you'll find US will be the same in relation to shipping as it's gone up lots in UK & US over the last few years. Plus the weight of the calipers doesn't help shipping cost.
So ended up buying a pair of good used late NB8A calipers which I'll recon. Common problem with the NA rear calipers is rust inside around the handbrake adjuster screw given age, so best to get a good used pair if you can find them, that way you shouldn't need the more expensive rebuild kit just the more basic seal etc kit.

FWIW, a couple of years ago i had the rear callipers on my 90 rebuilt by a mechanic for just under $400.

Have a look at Rock Auto.(USA)
Even if you don't return yours and wear the core deposit you can have the pair (remanufactured) shipped FedEx for just over $400aud

or the seal kit NAY1-26-46ZB about $50 delivered on Amayama (kit does both callipers)
