If you're after an off the shelf solution, CarbonMiata seem to have a couple of options. I went with the Vindi ducktail and started moulding it myself. Although I'm nowhere near finishing it haha.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Here is the latest from my recent 16 Nov WP track day:

- car performed flawlessly
- instead of ‘taking it easy’ in the first session - I done something different & started pushing early on
- pushed much harder then last day out & managed to find the courage I was missing (perhaps too much courage?)
- things I done differently:
- on throttle up the hill,
- took the hill section harder with small inputs of braking
- flat out on turns 6,7 & 9
- this time around I ran slightly higher tyre pressures, being 31psi hot rather than the 28 psi hot.. car felt a little more planted/less squishy, but the rear felt like it wanted to swing around in some cases, which is evident in the vid
- I also stiffened up the coils slightly, now above the medium setting by 2 clicks
- I spun off on 2 occasions mainly due to carrying too much speed, over correcting or counter steering too late.
- my go pro didn’t capture some of the sessions.. I had a decent spin off at turn 2 which is not included in the vid
- NEW PB - 1:15:70

Latest acquisitions:
- autokonexion intergrated ducktail boot lid - fibreglass. This wasn’t cheap, but prob the best I have seen (custom made).
- the craft square mirrors I purchased aren't due to arrive until march 17!

To do & on the cards:
- oil + filter change (car has had 3 track days without a service)
- thicker front strut tower bar to further eliminate body roll?
- can tell I need a proper diff now

In saying that, car is fine as it is & provides enough thrills. I know it’s got some more in it.. & I should get into the 1:14’s.

Enough chit chat..

This was a 115:74 lap time followed by some other highlights during the day.

Until next time,

carbon mirrors came in earlier than expected, i wasted no time in getting them on. visibility is better than expected, its a wider view but i have lost the height aspect.. takes some getting used to.

Nice!! Where'd you end up getting them from?
I love these ones as well as the Zoom Engineering ones.
Can you still see the curb when parking to avoid gutter rashing your wheels? That is my only fear of going to CF mirrors after owning a Spoon set on my Civic, could not see the curb at all and I eventually went back to stock mirrors.

greenline motorsports - cheaper compared to others.

with these i lost the ability to adjust electronically within cabin, so to answer your question it's more challenging to reverse park/keeping an eye on gutters.. i tend to use the 'stand up' technique.. i.e. stretch out/sit as tall as possible to get a lower view, it works. i sorta knew what i was getting myself into with these + car doesnt get out much/visit shopping centres or busy places. i have kept the OEM items if ever i need.

had a track day at WP on the 8 Feb.. fun & games as usual, quick summary below:

- weather wasnt the best.. light to medium rain throughout the day, around the midday mark the track was about 90% dry so got some good runs in
- car ran well as usual, although towards the end i went over a ripple strip pretty hard, it caused the check engine light to come on. i had a guy plug in a OBD sensor diagnosing tool & it read a cam timing sensor error, plugged the sensor out/in & it seemed to do the trick.
- laps were inconsistent this time around due to weather on/off rain
- best i managed was a 1:15.87, happy with that due to the inconsistent weather. next time i go out i might get some tuition as i seem to be stuck on the 115 mark.
- surprisingly did not spin off course, no damage to car.. so thankful for that

on the cards:
- hoping to pick up some gauges (oil press, oil temp & water temp) when i go to japan in april
- toying with the idea to remove the stereo (speakser + antenna) completely, and mount the 3xgauges (60mm?) in that area. the speaker sound is just crap anyway.
- waiting for the new boot lip to arrive
- wont hit another trackday until after april
- i think the the car needs some stickers?!

latest acquisitions:
- ecliptech shift P2
- new OEM steering wheel shroud to mount the P2

some pics of the day..

it's been too long without any update so here is a quick one for now.

Came back from a 6 week trip o/s.. was a much needed break! for 2 of those weeks i was in japan which was awesome, made a short summary vid of some of the highlights, which included thrashing the crap out of an r34 gtr, purchasing some goodies from the superautobacs store in tokyo & checking out the mazda museum in hiroshima!

regarding the blue turd;
- ive gutted the radio to make way for some gauges
- needs a minor service
- need to hit up some trackdays - planning to run at SMP with the mx5 club in June hopefully, this would be the first time at SMP
- i still haven't received my autokonexion bootlid & am having trouble getting in contact with them!
- planning to have the ecliptech shift P2 installed when i have the car serviced next

other than that, it's been sitting in the garage for a while in need of a thrash! orrooo for now.

Man I just saw clips of your car with the ITB's! It's a machine - you've given me inspiration dude..! Sounds like an animal & 109's is bloody quick for an N/A.. I will be sure to pick your brain when I see you : )

That's a bummer mate, my mate missed the boat also. The club days have become super popular in the last year, best to get in early and get the earlybird discount too

Anyway look forward to catching up out there! Hopefully the weather is better than it is in Sydney atm

G’day people.. for some reason photobucket has sh!t itself, hence all my photo’s are no longer viewable in this thread.. very sad.
But in other news, here is the latest:

- Radio out, made way for a custom carbon panel which looks the goods
- Speakers to come out shortly also
- I have a second carbon panel as spare in case I decide to put some gauges in that space
- Cars getting a proper/more aggressive wheel alignment
- Ecliptech shift p2 to be installed shortly
- Major service happening this Monday
- Ive had all sorts of issues with autokonexion, ive cancelled the boot lid order & will leave the OEM boot as is
- With the returned funds, looking to obtain a 4.1 torsen diff
- WP day in late sept – should be good

Other than that, I recently attended a burrows day at SMP, invite only.. a lot of high end cars. First time out at SMP/GP circuit, it was a lot of fun.. surprisingly I thought it would be a little boring in an underpowered car given the spread out layout, but plenty of high speed turns.. the car feels great in terms of suspension set up & braking is on point, also had some good battles with higher powered cars. The best time I achieved was a 203.32.. I think I can bring this down by 1.5-2 secs with some refined lines & braking points. All in all, the blue turd never fails at providing the thrills & a slice of humble pie to the more powerful cars!

Finished product of carbon panel/radio delete:

Burrows day action:

here is a battle with a mates audi s3, pretty evenly matched in terms of times achieved – this is a 2L turbo awd, steet tyres with after-market ECU chip:

I concur.. a lot of point & shoot..missing apex's..& not using full width of track.

Saw that the whole day really.. goes with the saying..just because you own a Ferrari, doesn't make you a Ferrari driver.
