FoSc is an incorporated club. Like every other car club i know of. The Pres, Vice Pres, Secretary etc. do not draw a wage.

Yeehaw Events is a private company (Pty Ltd). It makes a profit, I can only assume.

It may make a profit or it may break even. It may even run at a loss for a while but not for long.

Ok so what's the explanation for CSCA supersprints being more affordable than State Supersprints?

Aren't State supersprints very popular & usually over-subscribed ?
Only guessing, but that means host clubs can charge a bit more, make a small profit, & make the effort worthwhile.

The price vs track time equation does not always work out. I'd rather 5 mins on the dodgems than 15 on the Ferris wheel. This is, however, clearly a matter of personal preference.

Part of the challenge of hillclimbs and street sprints is that you DON'T get a lot of laps in which to practice.

Though I do appreciate the intentions of the this thread in making people aware of the options available, I agree with some of the posts in that "affordable motorsport" is a VERY relative subject.

All the discussion on pricing is purely the entry fees, when you then consider the membership fees, ongoing maintenance, roll cage/safety installations (if applicable), purchasing a trailer (if applicable) - affordability becomes relative.

The closest thing I've seen are the cheap endurance series offered by some tracks, where all costs are shared by 4 or more drivers, on a price restricted car (at purchase). I don't consider open practice days as motorsport (being non competitive), where none of the above costs are applicable.

My observation is that CSCA supersprints are better subscribed than State supersprints EG south circuit CSCA 92, State 69. Perhaps that explains the lower fees.

I don't know how it is now but enduro kart racing was very cheap in the past. Also the ability to share costs with co-drivers helped.

The racing was exciting and exhausting especially with the longer (several hours to twenty four) races. Three or four co-owners putting in a couple of thousand a year, give or take, could make for a competitive team.

I remember one event where I was the member of the fathers' team and we beat the sons' team by 4 seconds after 7 hours. That was fun.

It's a category somewhat similar to water skiing where everybody can enjoy the track and have a go.
