I've ordered the 2018 Ltd Ed MX5 RF

Postby Pete » Wed Oct 25, 2017 11:18 pm

First post guys, and it's an explosive one. I've placed an order for this little beauty and it's coming in Feb/March 2018. This is the greatest, most complete MX5 ever made. The RF is a remarkable little car, absolutely perfect in its basic fundamentals, but it lacked all the authentic high end equipment like forged wheels etc. However, this very special, limited edition, MX5 fixes all that and represents the coming of age for the MX5. Now, I'm a stock guy, and wouldn't consider after market junk. It must be original and factory installed. Lord knows, checking out some of the monstrosities on this forum, you guys have cemented my opinion. Of course, this car is not for everybody, just like the email says. It's not designed to be. It's a halo car for those who want something extra special. Enjoy the photo!

Choosing a colour was very difficult, but because the car is a two tone black, I decided that snowflake pearl white mica would set off the two tone effect best. The aero kit is black too. My inspiration was the two tone black/pearl white Jag F Type, which is just about the best looking car on the road.

Lucky you and nice colour choice. All you then have to do is fit MCA or similar coilovers to make it less floppy!!.....

Bit rough calling our cars monstrosities however:)

Congrats Pete, welcome to the obsession, please post some photos when it arrives.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Hey, I've ordered the car and will have it early next year. I've patiently waited for the right ND and this is it. If I was from marketing then I wouldn't have been shitting on some of those modded MX5s.

My wife has owned an NC3 for five years. We know that characteristic lean very well. I'm hoping that this MX5 will have far less lean. However, that lean is engineered into the chassis of the car and it isn't exactly unpleasant. You kinda learn to roll with the car. I'm fascinated as to what handling improvements the Bilsteins and the strut bar will bring. This particular strut that comes with the special RF is a Mazda Speed component and is not to be confused with the type thats put into the club sport MX5s in America.

As a first post, you've managed to alienate about 95% of the members here by dissing their modz so you're NOT off to a good start.

I'll NEVER buy a new car, the "drive out the door" depreciation just doesn't make financial sense and you know that in 6 months time there'll be a new release with some features your car doesn't have (or probably need) so the "Gloating Period" is very short.

If you have a classic car then I understand keeping it original but for an MX5, if you don't mod it, you're missing out on its real potential.

So gloat in your ignorant bliss and be happy (for 6 months at least).

People are very inconsiderate, boasting about their 'first world' purchases. I find that a lot nowadays.

I'll assume that you are just tactless, Pete and not actually trying to be offensive or a smart arse.
Personally I regard the model you show as the least attractive MX5 to date. I had the money ready to put on the barrel-head for the ND but it's still in the bank and unlikely to be withdrawn this Series. Maybe the NE.
When you actually get the car, feel free to post some photos, or not.

I'm not sure what the big deal is. This particular model has been rubbished recently.

The man likes it. Whats the problem. Is it overpriced? maybe

Its not everybody cup of tea....so who cares. Sure you can get other performance cars with200 kw at that price or for not much more. But its not about that. Its what the car represents for the owner. His or her journey.

I' happy for the OP.
I paid way too much for my NA6 20 years ago.....almost full price.

I would have it.....but dont have the money for it.

Who in their right mind would still drive na6? WHERE ELECTRONICS NOW START TO PLAY UP. Any of The original parts still left are all starting to break now....after 28 years.

ohhh wait.....
