New United E85 Gold Coast QLD

Postby Daffy » Sun Oct 22, 2017 4:09 pm

There is a new United fuel opened selling E85 on Ferry street Southport(corner of Pinter dr). Anyone familiar on the Gold Coast with Furbilicious fridays- the new United is across the road.
I also spoke with a manager at the United in Mudgeeraba on Somerset Dr- he said they are putting in a smaller single underground tank strictly for E85 and should be up and running in the next few months.

More E85 is good! I'll be getting back on the corn next fill up, even though with all this rain I haven't been able to actually bury the throttle this whole 98 tank!

The Sunshine Coast needs a few extra United w/ E85 pumps. I think there's like 2 of them, and they're a little drive out of Maroochydore. Hopefully by the time my partner and I move out there they'll have rectified the situation.

We have been thinking for a while to make a move up to the Sunny Coast in the next couple of years (we been on the Goldie for 13 years, getting close to a sea change time!).... the fella at Mudgeeraba was saying that United want to try and get heaps more of their outlets supplying E85 cause they make more profit per ltr, aussie produced ethanol is tax excise exempt at this stage until July 2021, and more new production vehicles can run on it.

Except it's not made from corn in Australia, it's almost exclusively sorghum crops that go into e85.
Because reasons.

Some interesting reading... I have relatives in south east QLD that are primary producers. Sorghum is a great crop for them to supplement income when growing conditions are rough- its a very hardy crop!
Click on crops then on Sorghum (grain)
