Fingers crossed not too bad, hope they caught the thieves as well.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I met with the insurance assessor today to look over the car. It's a write off.

The thief made a real mess of the internal plastics and removed a large proportion of the dash - it's almost like they were trying to remove the gauge cluster. They got into the car by ramming the lock cylinder on the drivers side. For some reason they then removed the internal plastic surround on the passenger side. They partly removed the tombstone and the steering column plastics. Noticed two cut wires which they (presumably) used to start it. Notwithstanding, the steering lock was still on. They damaged both front fenders, paint on the hood, paint on the front bumper, pulled the radiator coolant line at some point (not sure why) which made a bit of a mess inside the engine bay, damaged the wipers, took the alpine amp and a couple of other minor bits and pieces.

The style bar, wheels, hard top etc. were all still with the vehicle and their condition appeared to be more or less the same. So basically they took it for a joyride, did a lot of cosmetic damage and left all the valuable components. Go figure.

There's a lot I'd like to say ... but ...

... anyway, hopefully the insurance comes through for you and you can find a decent replacement. Just really sucks these low lifes exist though ...

Bugger - sorry to hear of this result. Had you modified it much and if so can you recovery any parts?

These things underline why we have insurance - but its still a bad experience and a good car destroyed. Wretched thieves adding nothing to our society.

Sorry to hear about your car. I hope they caught the scum that did it.
I notice it's listed on the Pickles salvage auction now. Is it worth buying it back and fixing it yourself?
All the best

One more reason to get a NB, car totally immobilised without the key.

They can still smash a window, slash the roof, but they can't drive it.

Yep that's it.

I won't be bidding on it, but if anyone is keen to know more about it get in touch. I have service history for 10+ years.

Cheers

What a shame - for you and for the car. The NA holds a special place in our hearts and we hate to see a good one taken out of commission.
As much as I would like to hang the perpetrators by their toes they are a sad excuse for humankind and to be pitied as they will almost certainly come to a sticky end.
