I have spoken to Deckspeed. He is my preferred option,logistically challenging but doable. I am in Melbourne

What about putting a 4.1 diff in if you haven’t already?

Give the bloke a break Dann - seven posts, all on this thread, and you are giving him a hard time.
Give him time to get his head around the information here and in other threads.
Ozace, a belated welcome to the forum! You will find lots of info here on all things MX5, browse the threads and use the search function, and all sorts of things will be opened for you. You could start here http://mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=67063

The other upside of a 2.5 transplant is you get forged internals as opposed to cast items in the NC1 engine.

I have been around for a long time (couldn't find my old login details). I appreciate all the input, I understand where Nitro Dan comes from, he is passionate about what he does. Being a daily driver not a racer (track days excepted) I am looking for simple drivability and stealth under the bonnet.
Thanks for the link to the above thread. I have had a good read but as I am not DIY most of that stuff doesn't answer my concerns about drivability and reliability for daily driving.

Also consider the following costs;
-Shipping to and from Sydney ($700 each way?)
-Engineering ($900) plus possible Emissions test (may avoid that if you keep all factory intake and plumbing, $700)
-Plus tons unexpected others

Charlie Brown has had a 2.5 in his since about 2014. It has been well used at many track events and as a daily. He loves it. From what I can determine, it just improves the package. The only downside seems to be cost.

Re: NC 2.5l engine swaps ?
There was a guy up here in Queensland who got the 2.5 swap if I recall correctly. He then added a supercharger to it! I believe Automotive Plus did the swap, but I don't think they're doing that kind of work any more.

well aware of the cost

Unfortunately for me i feel the need for more go and want to keep the NC rather than get a Boxster.
An engine swap should provide the excitement i am chasing in a format that will keep the grin on my face
