Good to see construction underway. Unfortunate location IMO. I don't think it will have a long life. Expect it to go the way of Warwick Farm, Catalina Park, Amaroo Park and Oran Park. The land just gets too valuable.
That's why they put Wakefield where they did.

Circuit Italia has a much better chance IMO. We already have a "hillclimb circuit" and Khanacross track right next door and 'suburbia' is a long way distant.
It was hoped to open this year but now put back to 2018 some time.

Hillclimbs today are not what they were in the past. Used to be that you started at the bottom of a hill and finished at the top. Then had a return road to get back to the bottom to start again.
Ringwood is fun but not really a hillclimb IMO. Sure you go up a bit then around a circuit and back down to finish at just a little higher than the start.

Luddenham is right next to Badgerys Creek airport site so no real risk of being surrounded by houses.

Do you really believe that the Badgerys Creek airport will ever be built?

Property values. Too true but only partially the problem. SFS and SCG would be worth billions but motor sport has always been regarded as a sport for rev heads and not for the polite people.

This view makes me so annoyed.

Oran Park should have been preserved as a sporting heritage site, instead we have rows of McMansions.

So what has happened in the last 12 months? Be nice to get an update on just what has, or has not, been built?

There is a lot of earthmoving currently happening at Circuit Italia (Raymond Terrace).
They're saying the track will be down by the end of this year, but I guess that depends on the weather.

Luddenham Raceway is completed and open for business. The first track day for cars was held last week. However ...

They do not accept CAMS or AASA licences and the track has not been approved by CAMS. You have to pay for a special Luddenham licence (day or annual) which is additional to the hire cost.

Track days are run by Drive to Survive (Ian Luff). They're bloody expensive for such a tiny circuit: $295 on Sundays, $250 on Thursdays. Private hire is available but ridiculously expensive so MX-5 Club of NSW is not considering any bookings.

Their insurance cover is minimal and it sounds like there is no ambo or medic on site. If an ambulance is called you pay for it. If a helicopter transfer is required you pay for it.

They allow up to 15 cars per run. That's very high track density for such a small circuit.

It appears they have one large carport with enough undercover space for about 20 cars.

Thanks Guran, it was Luddenham that was on my mind when I asked the question.

Living south of the Big Smoke, central coast circuits are of less interest to me, but I can see their attraction for those up that way! So it was disappointing to read your comments about Luddenham, a lost opportunity it seems :( .

Apparently the 'Luddenham Licence" has been dropped. Actually incorporated into the day rate with no option for annual discount. Was $220 for a weekday + $30 for the day' licence' or $100 for annual 'licence'. Now simply $250/weekday.
Ian Luff does it here for that.
Driving Solutions does similar on the EC GP circuit for $375 for a half day or $795 for a full day (includes lunch)
Trackschool does similar at Wakefield for $250 for a full day including timing or for $350 Open Pit Lane (includes lunch)
So Trackschool is best value, especially if you live south of Sydney. If you live north of Sydney or in Sydney's west Luddenham offers a much more affordable alternative to Eastern Creek.

I can't remember the day rate (it's been a couple of years) but I think Marulan was about half the others fee for a track day. And they accept a Cams licence as an alternative to their own.

I don't know how people can have such an expensive hobby. I did it when I was younger, but track fees were around $100 or less (shows my age).

MDTC was $110/day last year. Might go up a bit with the renovations, but still...

Wakefield is $180 or $185 (ambiguity is my memory, not that the orice changes).

My experience with luddenham so far is that they are money hungry and customer comes last. I took a wrong turn in Marulan today lol and I'm super excited by what I saw. Track is 1.6k of quality. Anyone been there before will find it unrecognisable. Plus the service there is great.

Please tell about your experience with luddenham so far. Have you done any trackdays there with Ian Luff's Drive to Survive or Bernie Hatton's Top Rider?
Both look like good value to me. Cars $250 weekdays, $295 on weekends. Bikes $230
