How do they fit six 15 minute sessions into an hour?

Re: New Track for Sydney
It doesn't matter because there are simply not enough people attending yet for them to split anyone into separate groups.
They ran our day as a genuine open pit lane session.
Ie the track was literally ours to race on as we pleased all day.

Short minutes or a long hour?
6 groups of 15 = 90 drivers. That would be a big day, particularly for a weekday.
More likely would be when, they get the word out, 3 groups of 10.
Total 30 drivers on the day, 15 minutes on and 30 off. Lots of sessions.
I'm keen on the OPL format and with Ian Luff on hand it should be good.

I thought to share a clip of an early morning run where the track was very wet

Thanks for the clip, all those concrete walls could make it an expensive day at the track very quickly.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Initially thought the same. The track is pretty wide. There is one corner that could catch you out initially but once you work out the line it's no issue.Okibi wrote:Thanks for the clip, all those concrete walls could make it an expensive day at the track very quickly.
There were a fair few cars last weekend and even in the rain no damage.

I agree. I'll be there on 30th to see for myself but from the video it looks pretty scary.

I have the lines worked out pretty well at Wakefield (thanks to Boz and Len) but am often still thankfull for the wide runoff areas.

Thanks for that clip which gives a good perspective on the Marulan upgrades.
Would you mind sharing what tyres you were using as you appeared to have good speed for the conditions.

Nitto NT01 with 1/3 of the wet tread no longer there. Track is fresh so there was more grip than if I was driving like that on the streets.Blesif wrote:I thought to share a clip of an early morning run where the track was very wet

Re: New Track for Sydney
Luddenham Tuesday
7 cars attending so it was Open Pit Lane except for a lunch break 12 to 1pm
Track was wet early on but dried out through the morning to fully dry before noon
My first time there and I recorded a 55.525 before lunch on AR-1s
Then it chucked down so after lunch I changed to the Michelin PS3s and couldn't get below 59 seconds.
However 15 year old Louise Taylor driving a WRX on Kumho semi slicks recorded a 58.088 on the wet track in the afternoon.
I do like this track. It's not fast, 2nd and 3rd gear in my car with just a moment in 4th at the end of the straight (4.1 final drive ratio, 17"wheels). It''s tighter than the South Crt where I don't use 2nd at all. There's good runoff areas throughout as obvious on the pic so damage when you overcook it is unlikely.
Although it wasn't a training day there were a couple of experienced advisors on hand giving hints and help + Ian Luff overseeing all and coming for a drive if you wanted. He gave me a lot of good advice.
At $250 it's good value for me. 81 laps on the day and I could have done lots more but sat a while when it was raining hard.
Louise did 98 and one other did 122.
I do prefer Wakefield but prefer this one over the South Circuit.
I will see how the new Marulan compares on the 30th.
For this one I can leave home at 6am, have a full day on the track and be home before 7pm. For Wakefield I would have to leave at 4 am and get home by 9pm. That's too much for an old man so I add 2 nights accomodation for a day at Wakefield so I try to make it at least 2 days on the track there.
I expect to be making frequent day trips to Luddenham until Circuit Italia opens.

Re: New Track for Sydney
That is extremely consistent with my impression of the track.
