Installed Steering angle sensor, at the start is how it was installed. A few adjustments and the steering position is now almost spot on.
This should give a lot better data on when turning in.

Installed VNet F/R Brake pressures. The changes are when the brake bias was being adjusted, in the beginning the bias was 75% to the front. AT the end it is about 50/50. These were previous;y into the PS1000 however had to use a 'chaet' workaround that was never optimal. Bonus is they has a much better logging rate!

Can now get a better bias indication. The changes in the yellow line is caused by me adjust the bias.

Starting to untangle the mess left by the previous owner(s).
Nonfunctional central locking, maybe an immobiliser, whole bunch of badly dealt with wiring.
Going to take the opportunity to clean all the HVAC venting out and try to neaten everything up.
Best moment: getting the dash out.
Worst moment: finding a white wire stopping me from getting it out, finding the other end in the engine bay attached to nothing, and cutting the wrong white wire to free the dash...

Good job, not tempted to put an NB dash in?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Stuwie, come to my place and clean up my wiring. I'm too afraid to mess with it in case the car stops running.

Installed new window guides in both doors. Not that difficult just fiddly. Especially the adjustments to get them running smoothly. Huge improvement but I'm not 100% happy with how the windows are running. Hopefully some more adjusting will improve things.

Mate you should wait until I put it all back together and confirm it IS running before making that invitation!bruce wrote:Stuwie, come to my place and clean up my wiring. I'm too afraid to mess with it in case the car stops running.

Re: What have you done today/recently to your 5?
Installed a ring brothers clutch master reservoir.
I am using an astina clutch master and was planning to use the astina brake master reservoir that supplies the clutch master also. However the clutch master line interfered with the brake booster hose so i had to come up with an alternative solution. An added bonus is there is a little extra clearance to run some curved velocity stacks by using the original NA6 brake master reservoir.
So now I'm using a later NB brake booster, brake master, NA6 reservoir, astina clutch master and custom res, quite a conglomerate of mazda pieces in the recipe!

Here's the basic idea for longer velocity stacks.

Re: What have you done today/recently to your 5?
Following yesterday, got the carpet out and pulled 10km of electrical tape (see pic of floor) over some of the most... Inspired... Electrical engineering I've come across to date. Note I didn't cut the red wires on the right. They came like that...

In the end, a whole aftermarket system (of something? Immobiliser, central locking, none of it worked anyway) ended up on the floor

The car ended up clean and a bit more electronically streamlined.
Dash is getting cleaned up and will probably get back in next weekend.

I just noticed in this photo someone has written "I'm not gay" on the left of the rear panel under the tail light! Thanks but i was already quite aware of my preferences. I guess i can be glad they didnt use a key to remind me.
