Thanks mate everyone like a good intake port pic lol I think that greenmachine said that head made 150-160 with standard valves and cams on a High compression motor so yer it can flow!
those baby cams and better flowing valves should make it hit very similar and I’m hoping the shave will give some nice torque.
I’ll loose some mid range torque with that manifold but gain some power up high from what I read.

Oh I forgot next week I’m doing the timing belt ect using genuine parts except the water pump itself will be gates because it still uses a cast impeller not even genuine does now and a gates racing belt because it’s blue and has racing on it.

About a month ago I drove the mx for the first time in ages and could smell coolant and it’s coming from the water pump, ideally I was going to do it when I did the head but oh well.
I have also ordered Mazda competition engine mounts from amayama.
I’m also grabbing a slightly higher pressure cap because it seems recommended and Mazda increased the pressure in the NB, also the main reason is a big green bastard in the form of a Nissan Patrol pinched the one off the mx5 when I was trying to figure out my temp issues, turns out doubling the power and tripling the torque caused the extra heat lol

I was tempted by that, I’m going the Mazda Comp mounts rather than the Mazdaspeed/SE mounts I’m just worried about NVH with the missus.
I would like a miata roadster short shifter but it’s one of those things that I’ll get when they do a special and toy funds are there.

The most expensive mod for the MX is hopefully going to be finished by the end of the year, a 16mX9m shed..... it should fit in that hahaha
The missus loves that her CX5 turbo diesel GT lives out side and the little MX gets the garage.
The Ultimate camper gets the other side, the car port has the patrol in it and the little shed has quad bikes, motorbikes, ride on mowers and horse crap in it.
The hilux work Ute also has no home currently

Looks like he took a fair bit out of the floor on mine.
I think I heard that if to polished on the intake that fuel clings to the walls but I think that needs to be much smoother, apparently you can turn exhaust ports to a mirror but the benefit doesn’t last long.

Truthfully its not that bad. I had much bigger issues like the amount of noise my idle valve made with the mega-squirt while cold.
It actually idles very smooth. yes I had to tighten a few things first few weeks. But my biggest concern that made the car less pleasurable was the idle valve noise.
It gave up the ghost 2 weeks ago so Ive probably burnt it out. Thanks to incorrect settings within Megasquirt. so currently it makes no noise.....but the cold starts have stopped working.
but ltst of other things can make the car not suitable for the anchor. I would say that the incorrectly set idle valve had more vibrations than the solid engine mount did. The4 noise if the valve aws also amplified by the CAI.

mine was far from polished as I said I used 110 grid. I used 80 on the B6 previously.
It certainly looks polished but it was far from it.

Yer as I said I think you need to go further than that for it to be an issue, I’m sure that 110 is recommended on the inter webs.
It was interesting that so much stem is protruding on mine because most I see done are like yours unless he does it for support or extra material to take heat away.
Either way the bronze ones will go in.

I only just saw the post about the idle control valve that’s interesting to know.
I’m really looking forward to playing with megasquirt.
I was thinking of building one but if it had an issue I would be like “oh no where did I cock up?”
I noticed that Beavis has megasquirt on his new site so will be interested in seeing if he can do one for mine when the time comes, would like to support him where possible since he contributes here with his videos ect.

Long overdue update Alex but great progress made.

As an option for a front bumper Spirit Road in the States are now manufacturing the Zoom bumpers on behalf of Zoom Engineering. Not sure the price but perhaps cheaper than stuff from Japan (with their high shipping costs).
